High-Tech MP: Semiconductor Policy 2025, GCCs, Pithampur Auto Cluster & Logistics
Madhya Pradesh is aggressively repositioning its industrial identity from heavy minerals and traditional textiles toward high-value, high-technology domains. Spearheaded by the Semiconductor Policy 2025, the Global Capability Centres (GCC) Policy 2025, and world-class testing infrastructure like NATRAX, the state is integrating into global electronics, automotive, and logistics supply chains.
1. Semiconductor Policy 2025
To capitalize on the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), MP launched the Madhya Pradesh Semiconductor Policy 2025:
•Matching Capital Outlay: State capital subsidy matching up to 50% of the Central financial assistance approved under the ISM for silicon fabs, compound semiconductors, and Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging (ATMP) / Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) units.
•Fabless Ecosystem: Development of dedicated fabless chip-design hubs in Indore and Bhopal with subsidized electronic design automation (EDA) software licenses.
•Talent Pipeline: Collaborative partnerships with IIT Indore, MANIT Bhopal, and IIITM Gwalior for specialized VLSI design and nanofabrication curricula.
2. Global Capability Centres (GCC) Policy 2025
Multinational corporations are decentralizing technology and engineering centers away from congested Tier-1 metros:
•MP's GCC Policy 2025 specifically targets Indore and Bhopal (and progressively Jabalpur and Gwalior).
•Subsidized lease rentals in state IT parks (e.g., Crystal IT Park and Super Corridor in Indore).
•One-time talent recruitment assistance of up to ₹20,000 per local graduate hired.
•Power tariff concessions and 24x7 operations clearances.
•Focus sectors: Fintech, enterprise software, AI/machine learning data processing, and global engineering services.
3. Pithampur Auto Belt & NATRAX Testing Facility
Located in Dhar district adjoining Indore, Pithampur is celebrated as the "Detroit of India":
•Major OEMs: Houses production plants of VE Commercial Vehicles (Volvo-Eicher), Mahindra & Mahindra, Force Motors, MAN Trucks, Bridgestone, and Cummins.
•NATRAX (National Automotive Test Tracks):
•Spans 3,000 acres under the National Automotive Testing and R&D Infrastructure Project (NATRIP).
•Features the world-class High-Speed Track (HST) measuring 11.3 kilometers in an oval circuit with banked curves.
•Global Benchmark: The longest high-speed test track in Asia and the fifth longest in the world, certified for high-speed dynamic testing up to 375 km/h.
•Enables domestic and international OEMs to conduct homologation, brake testing, noise-vibration-harshness (NVH), and aerodynamic validation without shipping vehicles abroad.
4. Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2025
•Capital subsidy for battery pack assembly plants, electric 2-wheeler and commercial vehicle manufacturing lines.
•Highway charging corridor incentives: Fast-charging stations every 25 km on national/state highways.
•Road-tax and registration fee waivers for early adopters of battery electric vehicles.
5. Logistics Hub: Multi-Modal Logistics Park (MMLP) Tihi
Because of its central geographic intersection, MP is natural ground zero for pan-Indian warehousing:
•MMLP at Tihi (near Indore):
•Developed on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model linked to the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) network.
•Seamless inter-modal transfer between Indian Railways rail-freight and national highway container trucks.
•Customs-bonded inland container depot (ICD) with integrated cold storage chains for pharmaceutical and horticulture exports.
6. Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Corridor
•Pithampur Pharma SEZ: Houses US-FDA approved formulation facilities of Cipla, Lupin, Sun Pharma, Glenmark, and Ipca Laboratories.
•Mohasa-Babai Medical Devices Park (Narmadapuram): Dedicated infrastructure for surgical equipment, imaging diagnostics, and medical consumables.
